Black Dog Society
About

We draw what
we can't say.

Why the art exists

The black dog is an old name for depression. Ours arrived uninvited and stayed. Drawing was the only room it couldn't follow us into — so we drew. Monsters, flowers with faces, keys to locked doors. Feelings that didn't have words yet.

Why it became clothing

A drawing on a wall is private. A drawing on a body is a conversation. Someone asks about the piece, and suddenly you're talking about the thing you never talk about. That is the entire mechanism of Black Dog Society.

Why the Society exists

Because carrying it alone is the heaviest way to carry it. Black Dog Society is made in Wellington, New Zealand — a small society of people who decided to stop pretending it's fine. A portion of every release funds mental-health support.
